IP packet sniffer AnalogX PacketMon allows you to capture IP packets that pass through your network interface - whether they originated from the machine on which PacketMon is installed, or a completely different machine on your network! Once the packet is received, you can use the built in viewer to examine the header as well as the contents, and you can also export the results into a standard comma-delimited file for further processing. PacketMon includes a powerful rule system that allows advanced users to narrow down the packets it captures to ensure you get exactly what you re after, without having to dig through tons of unrelated information. The rule sets can be saved as individual files, that can be exchanged with other users, or only loaded during special tasks. The program is intended for advanced users that have technical knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Outstanding!

Well, I wouldn't say I had FUN exactly, but I did manage to spend an hour or more tracking down connections shown by AnalogX, that weren't showing up in others. Results? Mainly Microsoft UDP, Some MyWOT in Sweden, and a few others, even Avast, which of course are all legit, but nonetheless, I know exactly where the connections were coming to and from now and who is using them. You can view the headers as well as binary or text, very nice. I also loved the right click, resolve, very very handy. Tracert failed in many of these areas trying to find the information as did some other network tools, this really does capture everything, I was very impressed and especially considering it's free, wow. Nice. Hats off to the author on this one.
