personal planetarium CyberSky is an astronomy program that provides a personal planetarium to the sky and shows you the current positions of the stars and planets based on your location. It also offers a real-time animation that calculates the current sky and allows you to go back or forward in time. You can customize the display by showing or hiding object labels, constellation boundaries and figures, grid lines and also quickly locate the 8 (9) planets via buttons on the toolbar. Other features include a search feature to locate stars and deep space objects by name, or input of coordinates, atlas or horizon display mode, printable star charts and more. The sky display is rather technical and lacks the eye candy and 3D enhancements offered by other products, but it includes a good deal of detail and information for hobby astronomers. Mildly amusing 3 stars by gimpguy Aug 03, 2011 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
I can only assume this hasn't been updated in some time. The interface is in need of updating as well as the planets, etc... the images are a bit old school and all in all, it's not anything of what I expected. I thought, hey, this may be great for the price, but it truly wasn't. If CyberSky could update a bit, it's definitely a fast interface, things respond quickly, but once again, the viewing seems to take me back prior to Windows ME. It doesn't have any more, if not less features than others. It's not horrible, still worth a try but I'll stay with winstars for now, far more detailed and free. show Review details
Best of all astronomy programs 5 stars by ex-programmer May 07, 2008 (Read all my 8 reviews)
Been using this program for 10 years on 98SE and XP after trying most of the high dollar programs. This program has every conceivable astronomy math functions you would ever want. Also the best for accuracy of all details and math functions. Beautiful screen display of the sky with all celestial bodies. I guarantee you won't uninstall it after trying it. show Review details
