I have used the program for some time but will be changing. In my experience, it has some nice features such as the viewers, but they are balanced with some very annoying features such as high CPU, crashes which corrupt the database which takes a long time to fix, while being fixed my computer goes into not responding. When updating the headers newsrover stops downloading while it updates, this happens a number of times for the header update and lasts for 10 to 15 mins each time, mean while you can't use newsrover. The only thing that has stopped me changing is laziness (learning new software) and the cost of a new product. I have a 4 core machine with 4GB of mem so I am not trying to run it on a under speced PC.

This program is junk by babubaht

I bought this program several years ago. It took me that long to learn to use it. I paid for the software and then Newsrover disabled the search functions and want me to pay an annual subscription fee of $19 to use the search function. To me, this is deceitful and wrong.
The software has locked up on me many many times. Newsrover has a hard time with large groups and large files especially when trying to do two things at once. Like combining files.
With Vista, things have gotten even worse.
This program is not worth the money.

Decent but expensive news reader by TheGoodDoctor

I've been using News Rover in all versions since 6.0, and I'm currently on 11.3. Feature-wise, it's among the better news readers, although that's not saying a lot. NR is powerful, but it will take you some time to learn, and I don't recommend it for novices. The authors have irritatingly chosen to use highly non-traditional menus, so even expert users will take significant time to learn to use them. The biggest problem I have with News Rover is a big one: price. In the past few years, they've come out with upgrade versions every year and they only grandfather people who have bought the previous version within about 2 months! Bottom line, you have to shell out $9.95 for upgrades every year.
