Freemake Audio Converter Freemake Audio Converter

Not free anymore 1 stars
This used to be a great, easy to use auto conversion program. Recently, they changed it so that you cannot convert files over 3 min without paying for a 20 add-on. So it's really not freeware anymore. Price: Free Trial ($19.95)

mp3DirectCut mp3DirectCut

Easy to use, works great! 5 stars
This is a very small program, that gives me the ability to clip MP3 files into smaller segments. I figured out how to use it in less than five minutes and had no problems with it. Price: Free

Wavosaur Wavosaur

Did not deliver 1 stars
I wanted for the limited purpose of trimming MP3 files. It would only save my MP3 clips in WAV format. Further, only the first 5 seconds of a clip saved properly. The rest of the recording was blank. Price: Free

OmidSoft Email Converter OmidSoft Email Converter

Handy tool for working with eml files 4 stars
I found this tool helpful for extracting the attachments from EML files. I also used it to convert the contents of the messages to HTML format, which I could then read with other programs. There is a batch conversion component for converting emails, which I used and worked well. But the batch conversion does not work to extract attachments, so I still had to open each message. It would also be nice to be able to save the emails as PDF or other formats, but for a free program, I'm willing to have to go through a few other steps once the data is extracted. Bottom line: the program did everything I needed it to do. It came as a single executable that did not need to be installed on my computer, which I find convenient. I found it easy to use. I definitely recommend it for these purposes. Price: Free

MiTeC Mail Viewer MiTeC Mail Viewer

Good, but few options other than viewing 3 stars
I needed to open some EML files, which this program did very well. Unfortunately, there was no way to print the files once they were opened. Also, the area for viewing the text of the email is very small, making it difficult to read. But if all you want to do is view the file and/or open an attachment, this program works well for that limited purpose. Price: Free

EMDB EMDB

Excellent organizer for movies 5 stars
This software was obviously designed by someone who loves movies and put a lot of thought into them. It makes organization easy by downloading most of the info on a movie from IMDB.com. But you are able to add your own comments or other information about the movie. It is very flexible. I also use and like the HTML export, and appreciate the ability to create my own customized templates for export. Price: Free

JAlbum JAlbum

Difficult to use unless using with pay site. 2 stars
Jalbum has a very clean interface and does a pretty good job displaying photos. It comes with a handy editor for minor photo adjustments and a variety of display options. My major problem with the program is that it is designed almost exclusively for use with the company's web site, where you pay a fairly high fee if you want to publish more than a small number of photos. If you expect to be able to generate HTML files to use elsewhere, be warned that the program makes it very difficult to get to your finished product. Also, once you produce something to be used with a web browser, once you view all the pictures, there is no way to get back to the page where you posted the link other than using your browser's "back" button. If you want to publish your photos to jalbum.net, it's a pretty good tool. Otherwise, I would use something else. Price: Free Trial ($39.00)

PIXresizer PIXresizer

Great program 5 stars
Great Program. First off, this is not an editing program. If you want that, you will be disappointed. But if you have a need for resizing or converting the format of large numbers of pictures, this is the best free or pay program I have seen. It is extremely flexible in how your convert things. There are lots of great options for mass conversions. You can also do individual conversations very easily. More importantly, it does a great job of maintaining picture quality, something that many other programs do not do well. Price: Free
