Zone alarm is not for anyone ... period

I had ts version of Zone Alarm Free, right where Id it. ings, the training, etc ... Then I got the updated version. Big and sorrowful mistake on my part. I thought, maybe it's just the free version, so Ii tested some of the Pro trials and it was all the same. The most important feature of any good Firewall program is the ability to halt ALL network traffic. Zone Alarm doesn't allow this anymore? I dropped Zone Alarm 12 years ago because they made updates mandatory in the free version. I heard from a trusted source that their policies had changed. And for a while it looked like they had. So once again, I have to boycott all Zone Alarm products from all the computers I work on. Do yourself a favor and try Personal Firewall instead. Price: Free

Axialis IconWorkshop

Nothing else comes close

After trying nearly every Icon Editor available for Windows, i found Axialis IconWorkshop. It has everything. At first, i thought its' price was to high, but in comparison with other shareware Icon Editors ... IconWorkshop is worth the cost. Far easier to use than any icon editor I've tried in the past. I would recommend Axialis IconWorkshop to any level of computer user (PC or Mac), you can't go wrong with IconWorkshops' tools and features. Price: Free Trial ($49.95)

DriveImage XML (Private Edition)

Works!

DriveImage XML does require some knowledge about computers, but Novices can pick it up quite fast by studying the tutorial at the DriveImage site. If you have a dual boot system on two hard disks on the same computer, you can install it to both systems and back each OS from the other, to avoid any system files getting left out. I've had to use this application twice being a beta software tester and it has restored my OS completely, without any hiccups at all. Price: Free

Muvee autoproducer

I have been using muvee autoProducer since version 1 and it does a nice job for what it claims. But there are many "gotchas" with the application. For a variety of Styles, the end user must purchase 'Style Packs' and the documentation is decent ... But the FAQ and Help system is lacking. Technical Support is almost non-existent for paying end users. There is little more a user can do with muvee autoProducer than can already be found in Microsoft's Movie Maker 2 application, which is free, save for the ability to mash up video with different styles. It is nicely laid out and easy to use, but be prepared to see the application to crash a lot. Unless there is a radical change with their company, I don't really expect to see the company in business much longer. A shame too, because the potential is there for this to be an excellent piece of software. I just can't see recommending it. Price: Free Trial ($129.95)
