Microsoft OneDrive Microsoft OneDrive

From a dropbox user 5 stars
I think MS finally got it right on this one. No longer are they the left out kid that everybody is laughing about - they actually produces something that outshines the market leader. Unlike Dropbox, they offer 7 gigs of storage (compared to 2 GB), AND they even trumped Google Disk Drive (which came out a day later and "only" offered 5 gigs. SkyDrive is just as easy to use as DropBox, but it also offers the advantage to access ALL you files on your PC, even if they are not in your SkyDrive folder. Personally, I am not an immediate fan of this feature and I turned it off, but I can see where this would add quite a bit of value to the service. Combine this with the largest amount of free storage in the market and you got yourself a winner :-) Price: Free

FileGrinder FileGrinder

Pretty good! 3 stars
The program offers a lot of options, even though they are not readily accessible, the GUI and workflow needs some work. I like the fact that it supports a ton of EXIF tags. Well done, considering that this is in the early stages of development as the 0.x version indicates. Price: Free

RKill RKill

It works 4 stars
I have used this on two occasions when my kids somehow got a fake antivirus parasite on their laptops. All other malware scanners failed because the parasite would not even let me run them. RKill does not remove the infection but it enables you to kill the darn thing so that you can run another malware scanner and let it do its job! Price: Free

ClamWin ClamWin

Ok, I guess 3 stars
It's OK, I guess. With so many free anti-virus apps today, not sure why one would resort this one, unless the Open Source aspect is a compelling reason for you. For me it's not. Price: Free

Mortens HostAlive Mortens HostAlive

Oldie but goldie 4 stars
I was skeptical because of the age of this app but was pleasantly surprised. The GUI is plain but functional and it offers a bunch of features that you usually don't find in your run-of-the-mill ping too. Price: Free

EmailTray EmailTray

Nice, if you use multiple email accounts! 5 stars
This is actually a pretty clever app. Kinda like the Gmail Priority Inbox, but with more control and it works with multiple accounts, including webmail. Instead of checking all your accounts one by one, you get it all in one view with the most important emails separated from the rest. Also has spam filtering and reply options built in. Price: Free

CDRoller CDRoller

Rescued my photos 5 stars
Worked exactly as described. I kept all my family reunion pics on a Walgreens Photo CD instead of copying them to my computer. For some reason the CD wouldn't work anymore, but this app solved the problem. Price: Free Trial ($49.00)
