desktop search engine DocFetcher is an Open Source desktop search application that enables you to quickly locate content in your documents based on a keyword search. Unlike many other desktop search tools, the program is not designed to index your entire hard drive, but only the folder locations that you actually want to be included in the search, thereby reducing overhead an increasing search performance. DocFetcher works by extracting the text content from supported document types and storing it in a searchable index. The search results return the extracted text content and highlight the search term for easy reference. You can further customize the indexing process by including or excluding files based on a RegEx formula. Other features include Windows Explorer right-click integration, special support for HTML files, automatic index updates and more. DocFetcher supports the following file formats: MS Office, OpenOffice.org, PDF, HTML, plain text, RTF, AbiWord and CHM files. Copyright Snapfiles.com

Fast and decent 4 stars by gimpguy Aug 23, 2013 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
Well for one it indexed near 8000 of my docs in 3.5 min, not too bad.I found the means to index and begin search a bit clunky for my taste, could have been set up a bit better. Once I created my index and set it in the search, it does find them quickly of course and as to not finding a word out of a title say... MyDocumentsDoc... typing Documents with a wild card will in fact dig it out so to the other poster, I think they should read the advanced file search it will explain and solve their issue. While this was decent, it has nothing that my over all search app can't do already, including indexing and finds everything so I really can't justify using something like this for just documents. If someone else needs just a document indexing and search well... it will suit you fine. show Review details
Needs perfection 2 stars by Nicholas Aug 22, 2010 (Read all my 72 reviews)
Docfetch does not always do where it stands for. E.g. the doc file BriefAanmeldenSchotman.doc could not be located with the search argument `Schotman`. show Review details
