While the program is capturing the video, it automatically converts it to AVI or WMV format in real-time and saves it to your hard drive. You can optionally imprint the DV time stamp into the captured video and choose to have it appear once a day, once an hour or with every scene. Furthermore, you can choose to capture to a single or multiple files, append to existing projects, and operate all playback functions of your DV camcorder. Exsate DV Capture Live does not offer any editing functionality, but if you just want to capture and convert your tapes to digital format, this program offers all the functionality you`ll need. Installed on Windows 7 no problem. When I got to the video capture setup screen, it correctly reported the current position (h:mm:ss) of the tape in my 1394-connected, 15-year-old Canon Optura. After 2 more project setup screens it performed the necessary tape operations to capture the specified video. If I wanted anything more than that, I'd surely fork over the dough -- which is an option with the author's Express product. show Review details

The only free dv capture program that allow you to capture from the middle of a tape (windows movie maker will give you error). Also the feature to capture an interval is very useful. show Review details
