This is a great audio program. I mainly use it to clip audio pieces out of some source file. Works great for my usage but it has a lot of features which one can enhance their audio track files. Two-Thumbs Up! Get it, use it, rate it! show Review details

To be honest, I don't know why this program is so popular and gets such great reviews. Now I'm sure it has every feature you could possibly want in a freeware program like this one but the problem is that the interface is just not intuitive. I don't like to feel like I need to take a class to learn how to use a piece of software that should be (could be) very simple if they put the effort into making it so. It appears likely that this interface appeals to a certain type of person who probably learned on this interface and doesn't find it confusing. Oh well. It's free, right? I needed to trim a few FLAC files to fit an album onto a single CD. Audacity did the job very nicely. Controls are fairly intuitive. I was able to easily cut lead in and lead out material from several tracks. The fade in and out effects made the cuts appear seamless. Although haven't used it for anything else, Audacity is a feature packed piece of software and should allow for some fancy audio editing for those so inclined.
