Works well for me 5 stars by raptozilla Feb 07, 2020 (Read all my 26 reviews)
I just needed a software to extract audio (MP3) from video files, and this did the trick. I converted several files from video to audio with no problems. I downloaded the install version from the publisher's website rather than use the standalone version in the ZIP file. There were no nag screens or prompts to buy the program, nor were there any offers to install any third party software during installation. The only complaint I have is that when adding video files to convert, you have to add each one individually rather than using ALT + A to add a batch of files; once added in a batch, the conversion was effected on all of the ones added. show Review details
Nice...but 3 stars by Tommiet Jun 21, 2012 (Read all my 9 reviews)
Tons of options and features, but these "free" features come at a cost. Constant NAGS... If you batch a group of files to convert, the software will stop and ask you to buy and require to answer a basic math question to continue the batch. Constant internet launches to the vendors home page when doing some functions and when finished doing its work. It already is loaded with ad-ware in the app. No need to continually NAG me to buy. I considered it, but the cost is too high for what it does. If youre going to do a few converts, this software is fine. If you want to batch a group of files, I suggest Handbrake. show Review details
Does a pretty decent job, but... 3 stars by Makkenhoff Dec 18, 2009
First off, I have to compliment MediaCoder as a software; it does a pretty decent job on the trial conversions. I do however, have a few gripes: No apparent option to disable RSS feeds which links to Amazon.com for purchases. Application based pop-ups while running the software that will take you to a website, if left unattended it will select an option for you. The `setup wizard BETA` is located online using your browser including ads even though it could have been done inside the application without them. No easy option to disable all internet access for the application. (this one, for me is vital in any application) Gripes aside, MediaCoder is a good piece of software that I have enjoyed using, and once I figure out how to disable its access to the net, I will continue to use. show Review details
