Never met a beat I did not like 4 stars by brutallyblue Sep 17, 2013 (Read all my 8 reviews)
Just a few short years ago to get your hands on software like this, you'd end up paying hundreds of dollars. I have Sonar Studio XL, and I paid 249 for it about five years ago. I used it for a few months, but never really got any results that I was happy with, and it took forever to learn. Before Mixx, I tried (and now am enamored with) Virtual DJ Home Free which has the tools to make phenomenal mixes. To the first reviewer - Virtual DJ does indeed have looper, in fact one set for each side. They reside right under the turntables. Mixx is the perfect companion for Virtual DJ, in that it has several features the Virtual DJ is missing, and in return, Mixx benefits from various aspects that Virtual DJ contains. Additionally, where I find Virtual DJ is the best for remixes, edits, and sequencing, Mixx is hands down the winner for live performances, whether you are playing in a large club, or just DJ'ing for a few friends. Mixx + Virtual DJ + Audacity A DJ mixer's dream suite, and unbelievably, free of charge! show Review details
Excellent dj freeware 5 stars by nuiparishi26 Sep 03, 2013 (Read all my 13 reviews)
Mixxx is a complete free alternative to paid DJ software that works even better than some of the commercial programs. It's strongest competitor is the Virtual DJ Free Home Edition but Mixxx has all the features enabled and Virtual DJ doesn't (such as looping and fully editable effects not to mention MIDI and transport control). You can also record your own mixes to MP3 or WAV so as to edit later on a dedicated sound editor such as Audacity or Wavosaur or even add tracks to your favorite Audio Sequencer software. Mixxx is also available in the Linux flavor. I've been using it on both platforms and strongly recommend it as a freeware that doesn't skip on professional features. The interface has been revamped and now looks as cool as the commercial programs. show Review details
Nice freebie 5 stars by gimpguy Jul 06, 2012 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
I've used many mixers, mainly just to play around due to the fact I have liked a lot of older hard rock songs that were mixed or remixed and it took my interest. The main issue was very complicated UI and basically, things I didn't understand or could get around. I am not saying one couldn't learn, but unless you are serious about mixing, you likely won't which is why I like this so much. It's easy enough for me to get around, mix a song for fun without the hassle and has more than enough features for a free software. I can't figure out for the life of me how to delete a loop point, perhaps I will eventually but yes, this is simply a lot of fun and for the more serious types. show Review details
