First off, it gives you a warning that GhostScript is not installed, well, don't panic, you don't need it to use most of it anyway. If you want to install GS, I suggest searching the web for it as Scribus had some dead links. Also, it's better to install GS PRIOR to Scribus, if not, just go to "preferences" , External Tools, find your GS install, and point to the correct directory. I also suggest reading the help file for instructions.
Aside from that, I wasn't real enthused by this. When I would put an image into the frame, I could no longer resize my Scribus window and other things would quit responding. Saving as PDF had some issues as well, it would save but corrupted. I don't know if GS had something to do with this or not.
It didn't have well placed options in my opinion, kept giving me errors whenever I placed a frame, would hang at start up, etc... so I would definitely use other types of office software over this. For the most part, it was clunky and just a pain to use.
It's still has a lot to offer for being free and definitely better than nothing. Some may even prefer it, I just can't bring myself to call this a keeper by any means.
