Working so far 3 stars by jhs39578 May 22, 2014
It's nice to be able to generate media thumbnails without downloading an entire codec pack (Shark and K-Lite are the two I previously used) that I have no other use for. That said, this doesn't seem to work as well as the thumbnail generators built into those packs--it renders initial thumbnails a lot more slowly and it doesn't automatically create thumbnails for all videos in a media folder unless you view all of the shortcuts in that folder. Otherwise they appear to stay as generic VLC icons or however they appear on your computer. Hopefully Media Preview won't cause problems with Windows Explorer, which is the issue I've had with third party icon generators. But so far this at least seems to be worth a look. show Review details
Works mostly 3 stars by gimpguy Sep 22, 2012 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
Well, it does one thing really, it gives you previews instead of blank files which is great really. You can set which file types, bright, dark, set at which point you want the preview to be at in the vid file. The problem I'm having is that it will not show .mov (quicktime) movie files. They stay blank and yes, they are chosen in the options, I even custom put .MOV in caps just to be sure, did a restart, moved the thumb into the target, everything but it remains a blank. Basically, I have what I had before, previews of my video files with a twist except all the blank .mov files. Dunno, would have liked to rate this higher but really, it's not doing what it claims. show Review details
