Sothink SWF Easy Sothink SWF Easy

They did it... 5 stars
Sothink managed to make a serious Flash tool with a very easy to use interface for making some fairly intricate Flash movies. I've tested some 15-20 lower end Flash tools (including Sothink Quicker) that call themselves easy to use but nothing compares to the 6.x versions of Sothink Easy. What I needed was a no nonsense tool for making ordinary Flash banners for professional use and this one works real well and has more features than needed for that purpose. In less than 45 minutes, I created a better Flash banner than the banner we paid a graphics company to make for us. Once you're past that, the next one was easier with more use of features I hadn't tried before. Updating an existing banner is literally a matter of minutes. I have not used SWF Easy for making applications but that's way off for what I was looking for. Of course Sothink Easy does not have close to the feature set of more high end Flash tools but it easily gets a mark of "Excellent" in that category due to the low cost of the product. Sothink needs to sell their higher end products as well but still, Easy's got more features than I need for the work I do. The PriceValue really goes through the ceiling AFAIC. Cons: No import of .FLA files but for 45 bucks... Price: Free Trial ($49.95)

SyncBack Free SyncBack Free

What everybody else says 5 stars
Simply brilliant. This is very very solid backup and (and most important for myself) file synchronization piece software that really delivers. None of the usual proprietary backup file-format that creates a hassle on restore but simply well written software that works. This kind of SW has to be trusted so I've run SyncBack through all the paces to try to throw it off base regarding backup/synchronizing files and it can't be beat. The indexing is amazingly fast, SyncBack will synchronize the change of datestamp or single byte content of one single file in a backup set containing over 54,000 files making up more than 40 Gb of storage space in less than 3 seconds on a Win2003 server at 2 Ghz. It really gives me peace of mind. I've recommended SyncBack to newbies as well as techies all over and they are as impressed as I am. 10 stars outa 5. At least. Price: Free

JAlbum JAlbum

Outstanding 4 stars
Jalbum an absolute no brainer for any user who wants to put up an album once in a while and wants it to look *real* good. Well enough as that might be, the ingenuity of what Jalbum really is comes into play if you're a notch above amateur and want the best gallery tool available to communicate your work exactly the way you want it. I've been through a lot of image gallery tools and found of 100% them lacking in one or other feature that has made for post-editing the output with a separate HTML-editor to get what is needed. Jalbum lets you do all you need within one piece of software. As with any software with serious capabilities, if you go beyond the defaults you need to spend a few minutes in the manual but that is more than well spent time. I'm plumb amazed that this is freeware, it's simply the best image gallery tool I've ever used. Price: Free Trial ($39.00)
