CCleaner Portable CCleaner Portable

Great tool for getting rid of 'crap files 5 stars
Excellent program which has always been quite reliable for many years, as well. Great tool for getting rid of 'crap files'. CCleaner (originally aptly named: Crap Cleaner) also includes a 'registry scanner' that scans for invalid references and options to start cleaning automatically; and it is especially better than so many others out there (freeware OR shareware) because it is so safe-to-use, IMO... I have CCleaner installed and use "CCEnhancer" with it as well. However - for speed - I currently use Cloud System Booster which is also much more configurable than CCleaner). Price: Free

Microsoft OneDrive Microsoft OneDrive

I upgraded skydrive (and got 25 gb vs. 7gb!) 5 stars
I upgraded SkyDrive and received a BONUS of up to 25 GB! (vs. the standard previously available 7GB!) I had previously tested and used SkyDrive prior to upgrading (but not Office 365; at least not yet, anyway) and I really like it a lot, as well. And I especially liked it when I checked the site today; right after your posts in here, btw - thx! And was offered a "free user" upgrade from 7GB to 25GB supposedly "for loyal users" in the "Manage storage" section of the SkyDrive site. I have the Google Drive the service too and so far so good. I downloaded a few things to test it out and then just last night I uploaded my entire Windows 7 'documents' folder (where I keep just about everything). The only somewhat 'negative' thing I can think of; regarding the other Google Drive software; is that it took a really LONG time to upload all the .docs - but there were a lot of them so no complaints, really. Also, another minor issue is that it seemed to be much easier to access it after uploading; from the Chrome Browser (as opposed to others that I like to use) but no biggie. Price: Free

xplorer2 xplorer2

Nice but the lite version is far less useful! 3 stars
I actually used Xplorer2 (as well as its predecessor: 2xExplorer) "Lite" version; a dual-pane file manager for Microsoft Windows operating systems, for several years and enjoyed it very much as an alternative to Windows Explorer... However, I gradually became disenchanted that the more advanced features are restricted to the Pro version. For example: As opposed to the professional version; this lesser version basically lacks customizability and any "search command." Additionally, Check Duplicates and Compare Subfolders functions are disabled in the 'free' lite version. Three other man features of the Xplorer2 Professional version not present in the lite version are advanced search (Omni-Finder), full Unicode support and robust transfer. Often time's free versions of software are independent of their paid upgrade, however Xplorer2 Lite is simply Xplorer2 with more than just a few of the far more useful options turned off. This can make for an extremely frustrating experience while using it, because many of the options (those that are made unavailable) are not clearly labeled as such. But for me, the biggest negative is that you still must use the Windows Explorer search function in order to search for any files. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not really complaining because Xplorer2 Lite, which is offered free for personal and academic use and is actually an overall useful program; however the fact remains that - simply put - the free version is FAR LESS useful. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

Has served me well... 5 stars
I have used the Malwarebytes "Pro version" very successfully (but the freeware version is sufficient). The program works really wonderfully and has served me well for a while now. I actually test freeware programs as a hobby on the side; and I probably download and install around a dozen or so of new full applications andor utility programs to test out each month so I have to be careful. I first tried using Malwarebytes freeware version and afterwards I upgraded to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware pro. It consequently caught about 10-15 or so 'baddies' while I was trying to test the new freeware programs onto my computer as well as immediately warning me while I was in the process of downloading the installation .exe files for the new programs. Another nice thing is that it detects many remote and 'seemingly innocuous' Adware programs that many other anti-malware programs miss. It then lists them and offers a 'right-click' link option which leads to a more thorough explanation of what they are, what they do as well as describing how dangerous or docile they are and then offers the option to remove them (or not to). I believe the upgrade only ran me around 25 dollars (US) but it was well worth it. Although I'm always looking for freeware alternatives to shareware programs; in this case I didn't really mind ponying up "Pro version" version, in order to support the programs development (and the updates and support offered are 'perpetual' which is always a good thing!) Lock My PC Lock My PC

Great extra protection 5 stars
I especially like the extra layer of protections which Lock My PC program allows. For example, I can choose to optionally disable the hot keys (including Ctrl+Alt+Del), the mouse, lock up the CDDVD ROM doors and display a lock screen. Nobody can access my system without providing the correct unlock password. Overall, this is a terrific security program for Windows users who do not want others accessing their computers. However my recommendation would be to make absolutely sure to review the entire HELP file to become familiar with it before just haphazardly choosing the various available options. Important Side Notes: Be cautious when you enable the Always Lock Computer at computer startup option. If you consequently forget the password which you previously choose, you will NOT be able to start your computer - even in Windows Safe Mode. If you enable this bulletproof startup lock option in Multi-user mode, only Lock My PC administrator (the user who installed Lock My PC) will be able to unlock computer at startup requiring the correct password in order to gain access to the computer. It will not run on the older Windows 95, 98, ME operating systems. Ad Muncher Ad Muncher

Best ad and popup and proxy program 5 stars
I use Ad Muncher for AD blocking, pop-up blocking as well as site blocking. It is hands down the best ADpopup blocker type of software out there; at least that I have seen. I believe the trial period was 30-days and it costs money (it is NOT freeware) but for the trouble this program saves me daily it was well worth it IMO. Important Note: One thing I would like to correct is the fact that the AdMuncher program is listed here at snapfiles as "Free Trial 25.00 to buy" Actually, this utility is what I call is "rentware" meaning the prices are different for one, two, and three years of continued updates as well as an "unlimited" updates price for approximately 80 USD in a single payment. Back to my review: This program stops just about ALL pop-ups on the net without any complicated configuration; which speeds up page loading, thanks to the missing adverts and popups. It also blocks many other annoying site behaviors. The program uses very little recourses, it is very configurable and it ZAPS just about every single type of ad and pop-up out there. Ad Muncher removes adverts, popups and general browsing annoyances from all popular browsers as well as most banner displaying and popup generating programs like AOL, ICQ, Morpheus, Kazaa, Grokster, Opera, iMesh, Bearshare, LimeWire, etc. Prior to using Ad Muncher I was using a freeware program called Serenity Ad Blocker 0.96 which was pretty good as an alternative for those who can't afford shareware. Eusing Free Registry Cleaner Eusing Free Registry Cleaner

Must have safe utility for registry cleaning 5 stars
I have used this program for several years now (using Win XP professional as well as Win 7 professional) and it has never caused any problems at all. And the computers that I use to 'test new freeware' has literally hundreds of programs installed on two large hard drives, so if there was any problem caused by Eusing I surely would have noticed it by now. Like many of these types of cleaners; after the initial scan the Eusing Free Registry Cleaner also provides a list of choices and allows the user to "untick" any choices the user deems unworthy of removal. Before the program deletes any keys, it automatically creates a backup of the registry and allows you to easily undo any changes if needed. By default; this program creates this backup each time you use it and has a button labeled: "Restore Previous Registry" just in case you want to restore the previous backup. Although I have used this program for a long time and it has never caused any problems at all; my feelings about 'registry cleaners' in general are that they should always be used with great caution - as well as ALWAYS using the so called back up option - but especially when used by beginners. Folder Size Folder Size

Not for Vista or Win7 5 stars
Pros: Works wonderfully for Windows 2000 or XP - just like the developer says in the installation instructions. Cons: Does NOT work for VISTA or Windows 7, unfortunately... make sure to stop by developers website for instructions for an easy 8 step instruction on installation and use. Price: Free

POP Peeper POP Peeper

All around great 5 stars
As mentioned earlier by someone below; I also used ePrompter for many years but after recent difficulties I decided to give POP Peeper a try and it is far easier to set up and use than ePrompter ever was. It is also easier to shoot off a reply or forward emails that you receive. One Tip: Installation and configuration was a breeze but I would make a suggestion for new users be sure and peruse the Help Files of this useful program prior to set-up in order to get the most out of it.
