Xecrets File Classic Xecrets File Classic

Mostly good 4 stars
I like this overall, for the reasons others have listed. It's easy to use and does the job well. There is one drawback, though, people should be warned about. More than once, I've opened an encrypted Word document, made several changes to it, hitting the "save" button at every turn, then closed the document only to have an error occur and all the changes I've made disappear, even though I supposedly "saved" the document several times. But that doesn't happen to me often. Overall I find this a handy program. Price: Free

EncryptOnClick EncryptOnClick

Simple, but a hassle. 3 stars
It doesn't come with instructions, and doesn't need them. The interface is simple. But it has one drawback. Every time you want to access the document, you have to decrypt it. Then when you're done, you have to encrypt it all over again, finding it in your folder tree and setting the password again. Other encryption software I've used just re-encrypts automatically. If you just want to encrypt one file, or only want to access one encrypted file at a time, I recommend you forget this and get AxCrypt instead. If, however, you want to use access several encrypted files at once, this may be the better way to go. The advantage this has over AxCrypt, however, is that you can encrypt or decrypt an entire folder in one action. Price: Free
