MyUninstaller

An excellent program

Revo Uninstaller, (ever since i found it a long time ago on Snapfiles), has been, and is, my primary uninstallation Program. However, Revo can be "blind" in some area's and force Techno-Newbies back onto the extremely mediocre Windows uninstallation Thingy. Well, times change, and they can change everything suddenly, ha ha. And MyUninstaller has relegated the preinstalled Windows one to the back-row: MyUninstaller shows you all the programs that are installed on your computer and provides a lot of Geekish-But-non-Geekish information about them such as what are all the latest programs that have been installed on your computer - including one's that have got in through the back-door. Still Revo is the number-one Uninstallation Program, but MyUninstaller is ALWAYS kept on the Deck as is the very similar 10-Bit Uninstaller. Gimpguy gives it the thumbs-up, and that is a very high recommendation. Price: Free

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

Avg is dead

A long time ago wrote a rave review about AVG Antivirus, but times change, and almost always for the worse; AVG has gone the same way as Avira Antivirus, and not a shadow of it's formerly once extremely impressive self: both of them ate now total wastes of space on your computer, doing absolutely nothing of any use. Ditched AVG long ago, it's definition updates kept on failing, it never found anything during full-scans even though MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware frequently did (these are admittedly anti-malwareadware progs, and not specifically antivirus), but AVG should have found at least something. Another frustrating thing about AVG was trying to get rid of it, even Revo Uninstaller could not eradicate it, AVG stubbornly refused to vanish and also kept on bombarding me with unwantedpromotional emails. Bye Bye AVG, am never going to install you again. Rating: 05!!! Price: Free

SUPERAntiSpyware Free

Awesome!!!

Along with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, SuperAntiSptware is definitely the best malware/adware/trash-hunter around; it's incredible the amount of junk that can get onto your system just by ordinary Web surfing, or else by installing either "adware-infested" trial programs or else programs that have got dodgy third-party junkware piggy-backing in on them - in spite of the fact that i almost always perform custom installs. SuperAntiSpyware is very, very good at hunting down this Cyber-pollution and enabling you to eradicate it. Easily 55 for sheer indispensability. Price: Free

IObit Uninstaller

Very good backup uninstaller to revo

Revo Uninstaller is my number one uninstall program, but Revo has a slight flaw where there are some programs that it cannot detect. No matter when you have IOBit as a backup because IObit "see's" practically EVERYTHING that has been installed into your System, and it is very highly rated by a lot of people. Thumbs Up! Have changed MSE for avast antivirus

MSE never seemed to do anything, it never found any nasties (while the free versions of SuperAntispyware and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware frequently do, albeit they are adware/spyware utilities)and so decided to have a look at Avast, and am keeping it. Price: Free

At long last, a top-shelf pdf viewer

Spent an entire year hours every night on the Web trying to find a good, free pdf viewer, but could not find one; there are not many around, and what there was, was not impressive at all. Bad quality, full of bugs and catches. Used to hang around CNET a lot. Until discovering Snapfiles and "PDF-XChange Viewer. When you install this Program you have everything you could possibly need in a pdf Reader, it is extremely sophisticated but is very user-friendly so that novices can straight away read their pdf files on it easily. With PDF XChange Viewer you have got the "King" of all PDF Readers. SIW

Everyone needs siw + winaudit

Apparantly SIW Pro is what the Tech shops use as their primary diagnostic tool and no wonder, it is an awesomely fantastic System Analysis Program. Unfortunately am not a Geek (but this can be useful for other people who also have got computers but are not Geeks, and who are looking around on Websites such the fabulous SnapFiles trying to find out about programs and what they are like and how easy to use they are: if i can install and "tune" "X" program then just about anyone can, and if i say that a program is very good, then it is, because i thoroughly test every program) but SIW will show even non-Geeks a massive amount of extremely valuable information about the hardware and software that their compyters are made of. In my opinion, SIW should be on every computer-owners' Deck, along with the equally indispensible WinAudit (WinAudit is absolutely Top-Shelf, and allows you to select information about your computer to export it as a file, or else print it on your printer; with SIW you can only do these things with the pay version); together they make what could be described as the "Ultimate Dynamic Duo Of System Analysis"!!! Top-gun sysinfo program even for non-geeks

Cannot rate this superb Program highly enough, it is very similar to the awesome SIW, and has an extremely user-friendly GUI. But where with SIW you cannot copy/export/print information without having the pay version, WinAudit lets you do all that stuff in their free version, making it an indispensable Program to have for providing information to Geeks on Tech websites when trying to track down the cause of a problem on your computer. Of course, also, a fully comprehensive, in-depth System Analyzer like WinAudit provides you with massive amounts of finely detailed information about everything concerning your computer components, software, etc, that you will need to know about when planning to buy replacement parts. Thank you Parmavex Services for making this superb Program available to us for free. Price: Free

FastStone Capture

This is the ultimate screencapture program

Have for years hunted the Web for a decent screen-capture program that can also scroll, but could not find anything except for "Duck Capture" which occasionally can (haltingly and agonisingly slowly) "record" a web page into an PNG file, but most of the time it fails with the message "The Page Content Changed" (or something to that effect). And then the other day stumbled upon FastStone Capture: WOW!!! This astoundingly excellent program wins on all points, first and foremost with it's incredibly intuitively designed features which enable practically everyone to use it straight away. This awesome program will enable you to grab from the Web anything you want easily. Price: Free Trial ($19.95)

Virtual world map globe

I spent literally YEARS hunting Web for a decent free Virtual Atlas, but could find nothing except here and there a map of some area/region to copy-and-paste; ended up with confusing morass of maps all over Desktop! Gave up in end, until one day "SnapFiles" Website was discovered by accident whilst trawling Web. SnapFiles is the Geek version of Aladdin finding the Magic Cave with all the Neat Goodies in it like lamp with Genie! Anyway, at long last here was best Virtual World Map that is possible: cannot rave enough about this fabulously awesome program: is literal Virtual World Map Globe that you can spin in any direction, and also zoom in and out from in any location to a massive degree; my PC has got very poor graphics system/poor resolution, but this Virtual Globe looks visually excellent on even my PC, and would love to see what this Globe looks like on a better Computer. 10 out of 10 for Sheer Excellence. Marble Brilliant Stuff and Thank You and SnapFiles for making this superb program freely available. Price: Free
