improve online video playback SpeedBit Video Accelerator reduces buffering problems when viewing standard and HQ videos on YouTube and many other sites. The program automatically detects when you are viewing a video from one of the supported sites and automatically accelerates the transfer by using multiple parallel connections, thereby allowing for significantly improved download speeds and video playback. During our review, the actual speeds for downloading complete videos were indeed multiple times faster when SpeedBit was activated, however we did not experience buffer problems with any of the sites we tested (with or without acceleration), so the overall viewing experience was the same. You are probably more likely to run into buffer issues when you are watching HD quality videos, but unfortunately these are not supported in the free version. Nonetheless, if you experience frequent buffer issues while watching standard quality videos online, give this program a try. SpeedBit Video Accelerator can accelerate standard quality video for more than 160 sites (YouTube, Yahoo, DailyMotion etc.) and the optional Premium version also supports HD videos for a portion of them. Would be great if... 3 stars by gimpguy Aug 31, 2012 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
...you weren't hit with advertising from every corner. When you install you can obviously opt out of the home page set and such, the plugin I installed which then gives you links to Amazon and others, yay. : I also (after restarting for the video plugin in Firefox) get another plugin that wants to install (Search Predict), no thanks. Really, this is a bloated software with more advertising than Google. I will say that it does well to enhance video playback on the web, my videos were sharper, non skippy, etc... Download and convert, fairly standard speed, nothing spectacular. All in all, if it was a straight up program without all the fluff, I would enjoy it, maybe... for now, I'll stick with others. show Review details
