MP3 manager and tag renamer TagScanner is an audio file manager, tag editor and renaming tool that offers highly customizable file and tag renaming options. It includes and online database search that enables you to search for missing tag information such as album names, covers and other details, and automatically update the tags with the downloaded data. You can also edit tag information manually, apply text transformation to the tag data, rename your files based on custom templates and create song lists that can be exported to .csv, web page (with covers), .m3u playlist or XML format. Other features include support for folder creation (to organize your files), built-in player and more. TagScanner offers a nice set of features but lacks documentation, which may make it difficult to use for those that are not overly familiar with tag editing and renaming. Probably the most flexible app for tag and rename audio files. It's full of features and it allow scripting too. The UI is very intuitive.

While as stated, documentation lacking, I personally have used tag editors a lot so it was no problem getting around it but could be a potential nightmare for unfamiliar users. It is very thorough and many manual options but it was a bit funny while trying to edit tag information, like it didn't want to take whether I saved or not, 3rd time around it would work. Dunno why. There is no install and it's very fast and works well finding everything in a directory. I do think the interface could use some work but all in all, it's very nice, free and small download.

I've been using this program for years. It does what I need with modifying a whole album at once for those fields that are the same for each song. Adding the album image is simple. Making individual song changes is simple, too. There's a lot more it can do that I've not used.
