harden the Windows firewall TinyWall is an add-on to the advanced firewall that comes built-in with Windows. It is designed to harden the firewall protection and provide you with easy to use configuration options that do not require constant pop-ups or complicated rule settings. TinyWall comes with built-in rules that, by default, will block most incoming or outgoing connections. You can use the Whitelist features to manually allow applications, or you can use the learning mode, which will temporarily allow all traffic and automatically add the exclusions for you. TinyWall also comes with an option to unblock all LAN traffic, which will restrict incoming and outgoing Internet traffic according to your settings but allow all local network traffic. This feature can be very handy if you have a lot of applications that communicate across your home or office network. Other features include an option to password protect the settings, firewall tampering protection, block-all mode, integrated malware block list, temporary exclusions, IPv6 support, and more. Keep in mind that TinyWall is not a standalone firewall! It acts as a front-end to the built-in Windows firewall and makes it more effective and easier to control. There are no additional drivers or protection layers to install and everything tightly integrates with your Windows system. Copyright Snapfiles.com

Why didn't Microsoft think of this? 5 stars by realbull2009250 Feb 16, 2013 (Read all my 60 reviews)
If Microsoft had included a little app like this, many users would not need to install a 3rd party firewall. By installing this, one can manage the Windows firewall quite well. I think it may be a little too advanced for people who don't understand firewalls or the computer much. In recommended mode it will block many apps from downloading anything. It is easily remedied by allowing the app(s) to by pass the firewall by adding it on the list. Excellent for advanced users, small installation and no need to install another firewall. But may be too difficult to manage for the dumbfounded. show Review details
Great for standard users... 5 stars by gimpguy Aug 06, 2012 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
...and even advanced for that matter. The best way to sum this up in non technical terms that standard users can understand? This takes a firewall that can be messy and tedious for some and transforms it into an easy user interface where you have easier options at the click of a button. If you have no idea how to use this, you need to do some reading on security and firewalls which there are many who do but yes, this makes managing Windows firewall very easy. This makes my life easier by suggesting this to people who only want the Windows firewall but don't grasp how to get around it, for this, I give it a 5. show Review details
Clean and straightforward 5 stars by talapantas Jul 06, 2012 (Read all my 8 reviews)
This security add-on is a must have for solid windows 7 users who get used to managing programs through windows' advance firewall settings. I've been a windows 7 user since it's beta launch and I find it a bit time-consuming configuringbacking-uprestoring firewall setting with its default firewall manager but with TinyWall, managing programs' interaction through LAN and the internet feels like a breeze. I know that this program is still at its beta stage but the 2.0 release is a huge leap from previous one which i am subscribed of. Given the fact that it is just months old, it's not surprising that it is being featured and downloaded so many times due to its fancy interface that does not intimidate even an average pc user and at the same time, lets you configure firewall settings more comprehensively. There are of course minor features that it lacks like batch clean up of invalid path entries and wider database of non-malicious programs on its auto-detect mode but I'm positive that it will be pointed as well to be added to next major releases to which everyone anticipates, me included. I would also like the innovative approach of the author by automatically blocking the programs accessing the internet and at the same time giving us the auto-learn mode and the "3" white listing options to give permissions to every programs we'd like excempted. Thanks to the author and those who are actively participating in developing this tiny yet powerful program. More power! show Review details
