convert images to icons ToYcon is an easy to use tool to convert images into icons (.ico format) and vice versa. It supports JPG, BMP, PNG, TGA and GIF formats and can create various size icons in 4 bits to 32 bits with optional compression for Vista. There is no need to install the software, just run it and drag/drop imgages to be converted onto the desktop icon. Configuration options are available by right-clicking on the icons. It's not spectacular

I create icons and such all the time and I compile my own from 256 down or whatever is needed. This did not give me a true 256 or decent re sizable icon so it remained smaller (using .png) and the quality was reduced unless using a square full image. This may be good for someone who simply wants a quick icon for a picture or such and the drag and drop interface won't get any easier in that respect so there isn't much confusion.
