In addition to streaming video, the program can also save captured snapshots to a local file, upload them to a remote FTP server or serve them via the built-in web server. Furthermore, a motion detection feature allows you to automatically start capturing snapshots or perform other actions whenever the software detects any motion within the monitored area. Other features include optional text overlays, timestamps, motion detection mode, a built-in scheduling engine, password protection, image-to-movie conversion and more. Yawcam can optionally run as Windows service.Want to monitor your home from your Android? Use the built-in streaming server and view a live video stream from your Android web browser. Great... but not really 2 stars by anonyuser011432 Mar 31, 2021
Yawcam is a decent webcam software, however the motion detection side of Yawcam is very annoying and somewhat flawed. For example when lighting level changes from day to night, the motion detect will go crazy and start detecting things that are not even moving. I had the perfect motion detection setup in the day and it would only detect actual things moving, yet when it came to night my storage started filling up by the minute due to Yawcam detecting "motion" which was never even there (I made it save a short clip of every motion.) show Review details
Great, but problem with multi cameras 4 stars by henry842 Jul 14, 2013
I'm trying to set up an IP camera system for home security. Yawcam does a great job, pretty much everything I need - but there's a problem setting up several cameras. I can run up several instances of Yawcam, which I have installed in each camera folder; but after closing them all down, when I restart them, they all try to connect to the same camera. I suspect Yawcam uses the Registry (yuck) so I have to set up the links manually, each time I start my system. Bother. It may be me, I may have missed something; but I suspect it's a limitation of Yawcam. Other than that, it's got a lot of very useful features, it's fairly easy to work out how to use it, and it works. Just one other niggle - I enabled motion detect, and it disabled itself after 1 second. After a few times I twigged that the scheduler was running, and was overriding my manual command. It would be nice to have a clue on the dialog, that the scheduler is running. show Review details
Great cam utility 5 stars by busybusy Jul 18, 2012 (Read all my 262 reviews)
This is a wonderful project. The software is simple to configure and plenty of options to record your CAM images. The conversion from image to movie files work great and is pretty quick without taxing your system. There is some good programming here. Cudos!! Get it, use it, rate it! show Review details
