For longtime PC users, Active KillDisk is a well-known name. KillDisk permanently erases all data on drives, ensuring that it cannot be recovered. It features more than 20 sanitization standards, including the newest IEEE 2883, so if you are worried about compliance, there is nothing to worry about.
The sanitization process is straightforward; you click on the drive, pick the data sanitization process, confirm, and you are good to go. For all the years I have used it, I have never encountered any issues. For those who want certificate creation, there is an editor within the software with which you can customize certificates, labels, etc.
Now for the bad stuff. There aren't many, but they should be mentioned. First of the being that, the UI should get an upgrade. This one is not bad; it scales well, but it is visible that it wasn't from recent times. The second issue I have with it is that it is not immediately clear after the purchase how many drives one can erase simultaneously with one license. After reading the description, one might get the (wrong!) idea that it is one license one drive, but in fact, it's first license 2 drives, with every additional drive slot needing an additional license. I somehow feel that this should have been communicated much better. Other than that, the software is fine.
