Excellent

Works great. I'm using it to move my files in preparation for a new work computer. Move files to the external hard drive, create a junction in the old location, and everything works like normal. They can take the old computer away and leave all of the files on the external drive.

Somewhat useful

I found this somewhat useful but had some issues as well. I did run into a bug with it as well. When I linked to a file on my E: partition, I could not delete the link afterward which resided on my C: drive. I tried everything, even a restart and the only way was to copy the link back to the file I originally linked, then delete the link. The copied link still resides on E: and will not allow me to delete it. That noted, I'm glad I didn't hardlink numerous files. One other issue, if I linked from E: to C:, if I delete the hardlink, my original file becomes corrupt. I don't think it's anything I did wrong, simply right click on the file, go to desktop and created the link. I can see this being very useful in other areas and may explore it a bit more, perhaps look to see if any bugs are out there that others have. When I rate a software, I don't go by what I have to fix to get it to work, rather, what I got initially. Will change my rating of course if I find what the cause is, be it my fault or the software.

I originally downloaded this tool as a way to overcome the limitations of a 3rd-party online backup solution. (My backup software was limited to monitoring specific directories, like My Documents, etc.) The shell extension functionality made it extremely simple to overcome those limitations. Said simply, it simply works. Another noteworthy point about this software is its included documentation, which was extremely useful and very well-written. Thanks Hermann!

Excellent time-saving utility

This a simple and incredibly useful utility. I use it to link directories together that have to be categorized separately, but are linked by content. With this easy-to-use application I can access all the directories from a master directory which contains hardlinks to the others, saving the necessity of navigating to them, which can be a tiresome business indeed. If you have a similar need try this out. It takes about 10 minutes to find out the possibilities and see what works for you, and will save lots of time and frustration in the future. If you need it there is a very informative help page on their website. Great bit of work by the author, to whom I am very grateful indeed.

If you have a program, or many programs, that have jumped on the bandwagon of hijacking your 'my documents' folder, then this program is extremely useful. in my case, i partition my harddrives, and on a windows box, my docs is MY DOCS, laff. it is not a space i take invasion into lightly. some programs do allow you to reconfigure, but some don't. a good example would be The Sims 2. not only does it hijack that folder, it can clog it with several gigabytes of things taking up YOUR space. this program comes in at this point. move the original to wherever you need it to go, but then hard link it back to the original location so that the offending program still functions. for all intents and purposes, the folder is in the original spot as far as the intruder is concerned. there are a number of scenarios where this is useful, but that is common one for you to consider. nice program and thank you for putting it out there.
