I tried other FOSS accounting programs and I'm really liking HomeBank. The first thing was to configure a Checking account from the previous month and it was pretty easy. Other softwares did not allow me to enter in month old transactions without a lot of hassel or not at all. You can create your own categories in addition to what is provided. The interface is easy to use and is well laid out. It has bar, circle, and time charts. I check the accounting values with my statements and the math was exact. Even performing a transfer from Saving to Checking check out. This is the most important for any accounting program! Everything else is a bonus.
So, I'm pretty happy with HomeBank!

I needed a simple program to keep track of my personal budget, tax deductible expenses, the school expenses of my children, some business expenses, and some long term debts. I sampled many programs. Most were too bloated. This one was simple and did the job. There's a little bit of a learning curb but it was manageable for me. I liked it so much I made a donation to the author.

Tricky to get the most out of it by davidtemp2010-567458

I don't have a financial background, but I use this to keep track of several accounts.
I find some of the advanced functions difficult to set up.
