I have to agree avg is a good antivirus..My complaint is the newer versions keep getting bigger and bigger. This goes for Avast as well. I did a custom install of the new AVG only installing the File and Behavior shields and it installed at 338MB.
I think this is excessive for only two shields along with the basic protection. It does the job it claims to do but on a PC with a Pentium 4 processor, I do not recommend it unless you're ready for slow performance. I've noticed the newer versions are being designed for newer computers, but not everyone can afford to go out and buy a new PC.

Undecided... Comes from Malwarebytes so cant be bad. It scans in 15 seconds. It hasn't found anything..which is good. Tiny program...I guess if you have downloaded a rogue program it would go into action...hopefully.

Nice interface..fast scans..easy to navigate...but my older PC just can't handle it. It installs at 384MB. Getting good ratings all over the Internet... Take it for a spin, I think you'll like it.

Tried Rising today on my older PC and it was surprisingly easy on resources, fast downloads and scans. Pleasant interface and didn't slow my PC down like many others but I don't like a couple of things about it: It does two installs amounting to 314MB, Rising Antivirus and the Deployment System..., and the fact it's made in China. All around it is a good program and does what it says. Try it

Installed pc tools antivirus to see what all the fuss was about..It downloaded in 20 minutes (125MB) of definitions and core files..and performed a full scan in 15 minutes..Found 3 infections and removed them...BUT when I checked the installation size I was surprised (300MB) including the Browser security toolbar..and while scanning..it used 1GB of memory..A bit much for my older PC with Pentium 4..

I installed ClamWin as a second opinion av but had to uninstall it after the first scan. It scanned over 200,000 files and said "Can't Read" and on all of my aol files, it said "Permission Denied". All the major av's scan everything with no problem. I really don't see why ClamWin is even offered to the public. It's totally useless

Excellent software..One of the best and wont slow your system down. Installs at only 37MB. Put the new version 10 on your shortlist which will be released very soon. It is in Beta right now and available for download on the Lavasoft website..but use at your own risk because it is still Beta and some users have complained it has disabled their antivirus software. When version 10 is final and ready to go...you will not need another antivirus program because Ad Aware comes complete with everything you'll need. Excellent company and track record in my book.

Nice program but one drawback I see is that it is a memory hog. You can continue using the scanner when the trial has expired for free.

After reading all the positive reviews here for MS Security Essentials, I thought I would give it a try and was disappointed..It performs weak on an XP system. It doesn't clean up after itself, leaving many scraps behind. It changed my browser settings and doesn't play well with AOL. It also disabled my System Restore...so needless to say I had to reinstall Windows to correct these problems. The scan is fast but updates are very slow at times up to 2 hours. I have always trusted Microsoft in the past but this program is not for me. If you feel comfortable with Microsoft then install it. It is very light on system resources but be prepared for problems ahead.

Not ready for prime time some functions do not work and the newest Beta release has an annoying pop up bubble telling you the internet is having problems every few minutes. At times the malware that was deleted isn't available in the report and if you're not connected to the internet you will not get a good scan of your system. After the newest Beta version was released and installed I couldn't get it off of my system fast enough when the pop up's began. The interface is pleasant and the price is good and it does scan your whole computer as stated but a lot of work needs to be done to win my vote.
