extract text from scanned documents Free OCR to Word enables you to extract the text from scanned documents and export it to MS Word or save it as plain text file. The program can import documents directly via your scanner interface or you can open a previously saved image file and press the OCR button to extract the text content and create an editable document. You can either convert the entire page or only a selected area, which can be very useful if there are images or other, irrelevant, text displayed on the same page. You can preview the OCR results and also edit the text before saving. The text recognition engine appeared to be very accurate, however, depending of the layout and formatting of the original document, you may need to perform some minor editing. Free OCR to Word can export the OCR converted text to MS Word format, however it requires you to have MS Word installed. If you don't have Word installed, you can use the text export or copy/paste the text into a different word processor. The program supports JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF and various other image formats.
