restore several classic Windows features Open Shell is an Open Source project that picks up on the discontinued Classic Shell. The software enables you to restore several classic Windows features that have been changed since Windows Vista and Seven. For one, Open Shell lets you replace the new Windows Start Menu with the classic version that you are familiar with from previous version of Windows (Classic or Windows 7 style). Open Shell also includes a set of features that allow you to restore several Windows Explorer features such as the classic Copy dialog, the classic Windows Explorer toolbar buttons (copy/move/delete), the classic Explorer tree view (small + boxes) and some other classic features. The installer includes Classic StartMenu as well as the Classic Explorer and Classic IE options - they can be installed together or individually. Copyright Snapfiles.com

Winxp-style cascading menus 5 stars by DerellLicht Oct 21, 2024 (Read all my 23 reviews)
If you prefer WinXP-style cascading menus, this is the program for you... It has many skins available, almost endless configuration options, and still works beautifully, even in Win11 ... show Review details
Make windows start button work! 5 stars by busybusy Oct 26, 2020 (Read all my 262 reviews)
If you have used XP or Win7 you had a function menu system that gets you to what you need without being Advertised to. The simple design worked for everyone not with Win8,10 it got complicated, more scrolling, and advertised flash tiles with things you don't need. To bring things back to an simpler time Open Shell does the trick. It is simple to install, you choice what you want the button to look like and can enjoy a menu system that you were accustomed to. The embedded Win10 menu is not gone if you ever want to use it so if you want to but in the end you'll forget about it had get to using your system. It is a GREAT addition to your new system! show Review details
Take control of the start menu 5 stars by Klatuu Oct 25, 2020 (Read all my 29 reviews)
I've used Classic Shell, and now Open Shell for years. Microsoft keeps making the Start Menu bigger and bigger, loaded with more junk. I use this to give me the simple "Classic" Win 95 style menu. Right click the Start Button and you can open the two areas where all the program links are stored in Windows Explorer, and arrange them how YOU like. I create folders like Anti-Virus, Editing, Multimedia, Online, and so on, and move all the programs from Widows and those I install in to them. Makes it very fast and simple to find anything, and keep your PC organized. Also lets you turn on or off the Factory links you use or do not use. (Help, etc.) It can add back some things to Windows Explorer as well, but the main feature is the Start Menu. And in Windows 10, one of the Right Click Choices is to view the original menu as well. Also use Right Click to get to all the Open Shell Settings. Couldn't be easier! I consider this a Must Have in keeping your PC organized, fast, and friendly! show Review details
