browser based network monitoring ServersCheck Monitoring is a tool for monitoring, reporting and alerting on network and systems availability. It can monitor devices, using any TCP Port (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, VNC, DNS, etc.) and also perform database checks (ODBC, Oracle, MySQL), trap SNMP values (disk space, free memory, CPU usage etc.), verify content served from a web server and check Windows services and process availability. In addition to regular network devices, the program can also can monitor environmental devices like temperature, humidity, flooding. ServersCheck Monitoring Software runs as a local service and is administrated via a web browser interface that provides statistical graphs and access to all configuration options. The alert options include notifications via email, SMS or MSN as well as sound alerts and command executions. Unlike many other monitoring tools, ServersCheck can alert you of an issue even when your network is down by using and optional hardware GSM modem (sold separately), which sends out alerts via SMS to your phone. Nice monitoring software

Servercheck was easy to install and configure for devices I wanted to keep tabs on. It does have a nice selection of methods to determine if systems or devices are in given states. Like a simple PING option to see if a printer or workstation is online. They have email alerts for admistrators to get notified of any device that may have gone down. The interface of their older version seem better then the current simplistic view they have today. But overall it works.

This software is not only comprehensive but easy to use at the same time. It's great for large businesses and corporations but at the same time is excellent for small business and home networks because you get 20 free monitors without having to buy the software! Been using it for years and will no doubt continue.
