Bitdefender is a Free version of the award winning antivirus BD. It is extremely easy to use as well as installation is quite fast. This is a 'set it and forget it' antivirus for there is no configuring. Automatic up-dates... scheduled scans... excellent malware detection and it always rated in the top 3... access to up-date logs & threat logs... non intrusive... low on resources and it's FREE. What else would you want? Maybe for those who want to configure settings or whatever this is not for you but for the rest this is an excellent choice. Enjoy... show Review details

If you use a computer that is basically on 24 hrs a day then many other Av's will probably serve you better. However if you use a computer that is on at random times or no particular schedules (like most laptops) then I can't think of a better AV. With most Av's you have to be on at a particular time to make sure the scheduled anti-virus scan executes. Bitdefender is smart enough to run scans when you are on, based on memory use and the like. It updates automatically. Its free. Very unobtrusive. Uses very little resources. It also sports some HIPS features. It has blocked me from several malicious websites, terminated toxic downloads and kept me safe in public places. I will get the paid version soon. show Review details

I am a very experienced PC user and knowledgeable in IT and business. In the past few months I have tried not only BD free, but also BD AV paid, Avast, Avira, MSE, F-secure, GData, Comodo, Webroot and many others previously. BD AV free is simply a great choice if you want the highest available protection via a single product and which is combined in a manner that is extremely lightweight for low powered laptops, hassle-free, no pop-ups to upgrade to another product, no slowdown of web-browsing, pain free compared to every other AV that I have used. In addition I installed free Safepay from BD. Perfect for internet banking. I used to spend a lot of time, even enjoyed, tinkering around with the various settings in AVs, but now I realised that life is too short to be spending time on that, surely there are some very bright developers out there who can take full responsibility, do a great job, and leave me without hassle, free my time? Fortunately BD have done that. I so pleased that I will continue to pay them for a Pro licence but use the free product instead, it's so simple and the BD AV Pro actually gave me some problems, unlike the free version. show Review details

I've used Bit Defender for years. It's an excellent adjunct to your main AntiVirus programs. For ICQ and Windows Messenger users you can also use BitDefender for ICQ and BitDefender for Windows Messenger for added protection. show Review details

This product is highly rated and works especially well at detecting unknown viruses. This is a good thing. The bad thing is its pretty bloated. Even though the active virus shield is not active it still has 2 running processes taking up anywhere from 20-30MB of RAM. Not the worse thing in the world but pretty unacceptable for an on-demand only antivirus product. I'm sure only a simple hex edit keeps this from becoming the full version of Bitdefender. I like it for backup scanning but just wish they would make is less heavy on resources. show Review details

Very good program i use it with spyware blaster and and my machine runs just as good as the day i bought it. never get any virus in it.. i use to use antivir pe v6 until they switch v7 worst thing that they did crap program... we use BitDefender on all 3 of our computers so thumbs up to BitDefender.. dont go and change it like AntiVir pe did... show Review details

Very well layed out program. Relatively fast scanning,very stable,modest system resource usage and you can tell very well written. Additionally Bitdefender is rated very high in all anti-virus tests. This software would rate five stars except for the fact that Bitdefender says that there is no real time protection. show Review details

I recommend this program due to it's easy of use and effectiveness. It can be scheduled to update on it's own and does so with out a hitch. It's lean with a sleek GUI that makes it easy to work with and set up. show Review details
