It's huge, but so is MS Office. It has broad capabilities, and, for free, it's by far the best available. However, it has the same problems as any other large volunteer-based software project: features and updates are added based on volunteers' personal interests. As an American I admire their dedication to supporting every possible language and culture on the planet, but it doesn't benefit me and it adds to the package size. Meanwhile, features that I would like to see (features that have been in MSO for a long time) never make it on to the wish list. . This is nonetheless one of the shining examples of how great the internet and its many enthusiastic volunteer developers can be, and I thank them for their work. show Review details

Sure, use this fine office suite if you don't mind using nearly half a gig of disk space. If you just need a Word replacement I suggest Atlantis. If you need a full office I suggest Softmaker. show Review details

LibreOffice never fails to impress me with its rapid development cycle and continuous addition of (useful!) new features. By now it already incorporates all essential and convenience (like "hide empty space") features I like in other office suites, and there are some "hidden" gems in it, like the excellent LibreLogo programming language to create drawings. Stability-wise it is on par or better than Microsoft Office. Its user interface uses the now "old school" multi-toolbar and menu-oriented access, but for me, as a long time computer user, it is a plus. (Still, since the new 5.2 version they even implemented a single-toolbar mode.) Interoperability with Microsoft Office can be a bit of a problem, but it is possible. It is best to use LibreOffice on its own. Since it is multi-platform, collaborating on Windows and Linux can be done seamlessly. One of the best freeware ever created. show Review details

It is a most excellent office suite. And, as I always tell people I recommend it to, the ONLY item missing is a built in email client. But as I also tell them, that can be best remedied bu using Thunderbird. Also, the other item is also an EXTREMELY big plus, you can EASILY share/work on your docs in Windows AND Linux. Easily. I and others have used this numerous times and yes, there are some bugs but I can't give it lower than a 4 star for what this offers. Some respect on my part for the complexity of this application for free. As far as usage, It handles it's own documents as well as office documents, .docx and others just fine. The problem, one time I can import a docx and it will format it fine, headings, etc... but sometimes it won't. (one bug example). There have been other hiccups along the way but really, if looking for a free full featured office software, this is. I won't say I will use it over others because I won't. OpenOffice and AbiWord I'll use over this, even MS Word. I can't fault other peoples' reviews on this either, if it won't work as an office software(which it was intended), it's not much good then. I still feel it's better than it has been, and still a great substitute for Word if need be. show Review details

This is an awesome product that is being used by SEVERAL European Government agencies, as well as many fortune 500 companies. So claims that it is not a quality product are laughable. If you are a university or college student you can not ask for a better tool set, I know first hand. show Review details

I have tried with every update trying to give this project a fair review. Unfortunately every attempt has stumbled upon error after error. Think it may be worthy in time, yet for now there is just to many issues to even be considered for any production comp. show Review details

This is just as nice as Open Office. I have both of them. And also run IBM Lotus Symphony at times. It was very nice of them to save us from the proprietary MS Word slavery. show Review details

Several months ago I wrote a negative LibreOffice review in this space pointing out it is a surprisingly buggy application. I had used OpenOffice for years with good success, switching to LibO only because it appeared OOo would not be developed further. I was looking at going back to OOo but decided to wait through a couple more LibO updates to see if the problems were addressed. The latest update, LibO v. 3.5.0, is the buggiest yet. One cannot even access the templates. I uninstalled LibO and reinstalled OOo. show Review details
