DVDs don't always play right with this player. Sometimes it can be a challenge to select and play chapters. Sometimes I've even had Media Player Classic suddenly speed up or slow down a DVD.

I've used this for some time over any current media player. It actually plays things without the bloat or hassle. Between this and VLC, no need for anything more.

MPC-HC has them all: it's very simple, lightweight, straightforward, no-nonsense player that runs even on "ancient" PC. Why bother using "whale"-type players when you can just use this tiny "sportive" gem?
I am using it since 2008, and no other player has taken it's place in my PC.

Media Player Classic has the appearance of Windows Media Player 6.4.
And used to handle more formats than its Microsoft counterpart.
In my view the program doesn't seem fully mature.
If you have a fairly new system with DirectX 10 or 11, MPC-HC insists on installing DirectX 9.
I hope in time this dependency will be solved, to make MPC a true small program capable of great things.
