There are several PDF file manipulation programs, most of which are good. PDF Shaper is an example of a very practical program, easy to use and with sufficient and useful features. It stands out as one of the best and it's truly free (without "fine print" and surprises). Congratulations to the developer.

This program has a lot to offer to people who want to manipulate PDF files. It has a number of tools that are listed on the main interface. once you select what you want to do it pop-ups a separate utility to do the performing task. The only thing that is clunky is entering the page numbers that you want to do some task with which means you have to know exactly the pages numbers. I think this is great for large documents so you can affect change to the specific pages you want. But in smaller to medium documents if you could view the PDF and just tag the pages would be a nice feature. Nonetheless, it Works wonderfully and consistently.
Two-Thumbs Up!
Get it, use it, rate it!

Needed to convert my insurance renewal pdf to images because my new insurance company don't open attachments. Acrobat wouldn't convert the pdf because it was 'Secured but PDF Shaper Free converted it no problem.
Don't worry about the promotional software ... just un-check the agreement box for it.
Thoroughly recommend PDF Shaper Free !

I was looking for a program to extra numbers from pdf docs to input into scientific stats program. The tables in the PDFs weren't organised in a straightforward way, so experimented with several programs and this was the only one that extracted them and kept their tabular form (as opposed to merging random cells, generating each line as a separate object etc). So very grateful I found this one that completely does the job! Yes be aware it does ask to install some third party software which you can decline, but make sure you look out for it.
