I can't really give this program a full 10 because while it removes the target file from access by most software, it still leaves traces in the FAT and the MFT. I have other programs that shred the target file, and clears the entry in the FAT, but I have yet to find anything
that 'does it all', whether freeware or shareware. Keep up the good work, though

Secure way to remove files by Leftie59
Mar 11, 2010
I was looking for a secure way to remove files from a mapped drive. Freeraser does it easily, just drag any file onto the icon and all trace of the file vanishes.

There are other, and better, erasers available that integrate with your explorer menu so you can erase files directly from Windows explorer.

The main attraction of Freeraser is that it is no install and can be carried around on a pen drive. One feature that I missed was a progress bar showing how long was left, which would be useful for longer files. Other than that, a useful program to have.
