Best free vector program 5 stars by realbull2009250 Jul 30, 2013 (Read all my 60 reviews)
I'm an experienced Adobe Illustrator user, but recently the price of the software is very taxing. Therefore I wanted to try some free vector software. The program is very amazing for a free vector program. I have used about all the features here and you can pretty much do anything that Illustrator can do. The placement of the tools, controls and terms will take time to get use to because they are different from the commercial vector programs. Also there is no support for Adobe plugins, but Inkscape comes with loads of its own filters and a filter editor. It is very fast starting up (on my 64bit OS) and feels very light and doesn't stress my CPU. Overall it's great and easy to use. A beginner may be able to do some things without looking at the manual. No other free vector program on Windows can match it. show Review details
Another fav 5 stars by gimpguy Sep 18, 2011 (Read all my 1159 reviews)
I've been using Inkscape since (I believe) it came out, or close. For those who don't know what this is capable of, I suggest browsing around for things made in Inkscape, read tutorials and such and find out just what you can do with this great SVG editor. Scalable vector graphics (SVG) yes, it's a scalable image or (XML)file format. I believe Photoshop has this ability but I don't use it, can't afford it so Inkscape is part of my main graphics collection of Blender, Gimp and Inkscape, pretty much accomplish anything that needs to be done and all free. You can export to .bmp or .png with Inkscape, has 3-d box creation among MANY MANY other options and effects, even text. Believe me, the "what you can do list" is far too numerous to type here, you simply have to read some tutorials and try it. It is a learning curve to be able to use it but well worth the effort after you do. So if you want a FREE, extremely powerful SVG graphics editor, you need look no further. Inkscape is the best in my opinion and probably always will be. show Review details
Excellent bitmap-to-vector application! 5 stars by Martial_Artist May 30, 2011
As a small business owner, I literally could not afford to purchase the high-dollar apps that are the industry norm. Instead, my reliable stand-by, Snapfiles, filled the need. Inkscape is definitely easy-to-use, bridging the gap between graphics in the major word processing apps and those high-dollar apps. Especially useful was the "trace bitmap" function, which allowed me to create vector images. I would recommend Inkscape to anyone who had even the most basic understanding of graphics creation. show Review details
Good vector graphics editor 5 stars by AppleGuy Jan 04, 2011
Excellent Utility but there is a definite learning curve to it. The Raster to Vector capability here is a rarity in a freeware program, and it does a great job as well. It tends to get a bit sluggish when it gets too congested with vectors. I'd recomend this program to anyone wanting to make vector graphics. show Review details
Excellent! 5 stars by Sam_the_Man Aug 13, 2010 (Read all my 54 reviews)
This outstanding program can easily take its place along side many of the high end graphic design programs and, in many instances, out distance them in some applications. The ease of use, along with numerous online tutorials make Inkscape a breeze to learn. The interface is comfortably laid out, numerous keyboard shortcuts are made available and the help files are loaded with lots of info. Thankfully the numerous developers were not motivated by greed, but wanted to pursue this development out of the pure satisfaction of presenting to others a marvelous program. My sincere thanks to all. show Review details
Probably the best vector drawing program for ... 5 stars by bonzodog Apr 01, 2010
Probably the best vector drawing program for free. Has all the best features - Good, intuitive interface - Robust (hasn't crashed yet and left me high and dry) - Plenty of useful drawing tools which are equally suitable for technical drawing or art presentations. If you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for features you'll never use, take a look at Inkscape, it's pretty good. show Review details
Great for digital crafters 4 stars by swjunkie Sep 28, 2009
Not only is this a useful vector program; it's great for preparing and designing files for your digital scrapbook / craft cutting and is an asset for your vector file designs. There is a steep learning curve and I have yet to master it, but I would recommend giving it a try! show Review details
