Highly intuitive

ONLY regret is this author has apparently not decided to join the big time as I don't see an install option. I ran it from the unzip directory and it works great from there, though. No guessing what to do. Controls are simple and fast. NOTE: If I didn't find the install icon and it was there, please let me know how.

Having tried various shareware icon editors, I had low expectations of Greenfish Icon Editor but it met and exceeded my highest expectations. If you want an icon editor, look no further.

Spectacular !

It's surprising just how many utilities you need to install and review just to find one that's any good. This one is very good for a few reasons: To begin with it passed the VirusTotal.com test !! An amazing number of potentially good utilities are filled with malware but not this one. Thank you ! Nice user interface with 32 & 64 bit installs. Easy to use with quick results. Compares well feature wise to other similar programs without all the add on adware and tool bar junk. I noticed it can also create transparent areas in your desktop icon if that's something you want. I use this feature. Nice! Best of all it runs as an executable so it really doesn't install all over your system. I wish more software developers did this. Two second install. NICE ! Tip of the hat to the developers. Job well done and I really appreciate that it's free.

A great icon compiler

While so many others claim to work well with icons, this is finally something users can handle easily and FREE?? Yep! Grab a graphic, .png or whatever you prefer, open it within GIEP, create an icon in numerous formats up to 256 Vista and of course Win 7. You can edit or create right within the program and it has a decent set of features like fill, pencil, gradient fill, etc.. and a nice set of filters like bevel, glow, etc... but even those can be common, what I found was when touching up, it has great control around edges or when touching up or creating by hand which is NOT something you find in every icon editor. I just tried another that I wasn't pleased with and ran across this and now instead of me having to compile my icons, this will do it nicely, keeping the quality all the way and just as easy as using everything else. I am very happy with this app.
