This comes in very handy to help block harmful scripts from getting on your system. Some claim you have to be highly technical to use it, not true, it sort of learns as you go. If you get to a web page you trust or need to allow something you know is good, you do that. If you don't need it, let it be blocked.
There is the argument that some sites depend on advertisement but that's a moral debate, not whether this is a good app or not. It does it's job and does it well. The more you use it the less you will see of it. Only once in a while does mine come up with warnings. I go to specific sites mainly so it rarely alerts me unless there is a changed or malicious script.
This is how many infections get on a PC, through a script, so the math is easy, blocking a script at the source as opposed to trying to rid yourself of an infection later makes the most sense. Most of the time I don't even know it's there anymore but when it is, I thank it.
